Cannabis Oil for Sleep: My Personal Experience
As I mentioned earlier, my wife starting trying out CBD for sleep nearly three years ago when we first starting getting into the idea of cannabis as an alternative form of treatment. Since then, she has been able to entirely drop her Restoril prescription, which had terrible side effects including severe daytime drowsiness, lack of balance and coordination, and even mild amnesia.
Obviously since she is taking CBD to help her sleep, she will only take a single dose in the late evening – about an hour before she plans on going to bed.
After months and months of tinkering around with the right CBD for sleep dosage, she seems to have settled on just over 40 mg, which is 25 drops from a 1,000 mg/1 oz bottle.
Taking the oil about an hour or an hour and a half before bed seems to be best for her, as the effects of the CBD certainly are not instantaneous. However, for you personally you make experience that an earlier or later dose may be more beneficial.
Best CBD for Sleeping: Our Favorite Brands
Like the millions of Americans who are starting to hear whispers about the therapeutic effects of CBD, my wife was one of the many who was asking herself, “does CBD oil help you sleep, or is it just another scam?”
Well, in order to obtain a definitive answer to this question there was really only one thing to do: try a bunch of different products out and see how they worked on her insomnia.
Current CBD oil sleep medications that are available on the legal market vary wildly in terms of cost, potency, safety, and effectiveness – we found this out immediately after trying out a couple of very low-quality products from our local health food store.
Once we decided to spend the money on a couple of reputable brands, however, the results improved drastically. Out of the seven brands she tried before settling on her favorite one, these were the two that stood out the most in terms of positive effects:

She actually started off taking a 30 mg dose of the 1,000 mg oil, and has also started using it as needed throughout the day when she feels her unfortunate bouts of anxiety coming on.
Elixinol apparently has some good CBD oil tinctures that work well for sleep and anxiety, but she tried that CBD capsules because we had some left over from when I was taking them for my back pain. She said they worked well, but the CBD Essence oil seemed to be a little more potent.
In any regard, now when people ask her (a daily CBD oil user) “does CBD help you sleep,” she can tell them in full confidence that it absolutely does, and is actually better than her original Restoril meds.
How Expensive is CBD Sleep Oil?
As we’ve mentioned several times in some of our other posts, figuring out how to use CBD oil for sleep probably will not be a cheap expenditure. You’ll likely have to go through several products in order to find the proper CBD oil for sleep dosage, and each bottle can cost you anywhere between $40 and $200.
If your doses are less than 20 mg per day, you can probably get away with buying a less potent 300 mg (or similar) bottle of CBD oil, which should cost between about $40-$50.
For higher doses, however, like the 40 mg dose my wife takes, you’ll likely want to jump up to a 1,000 mg bottle, which can set you back well over $100.
A 1 oz/1,000 mg bottle will last my wife about a month, so $130 or so is really is not bad when you compare to the cost of prescription meds – especially when you factor in how much safer they are.
