My wife probably went through a dozen different products or more on her “quest” to finding the best CBD for anxiety. Most of these were low-quality tinctures that we picked up around town (at vape shops, health food stores, etc), but we also ordered three or four different products from popular companies we had read about online.

As you might expect, the companies with the best reputation had infinitely better results and longer-lasting effects than the “no name” brands – and they were really only about 15-20% more expensive.

Also, it’s worth pointing out that my wife doesn’t suffer from chronic anxiety – her symptoms are more sporadic in nature, and as such she only takes doses of CBD as needed.

She found that with the best brands (see below for her top picks), a single 30 mg dose seemed to be the number that made a noticeable positive impact on her symptoms. A few times, this single dose even helped her sleep through the night without having to take her sleep medication.

She said the effects were very subtle and took awhile to set in (about 45 minutes), but once they did they seemed to last at least for 24 hours. In fact, there was only one time where she had to take separate doses of CBD within a 24 hour time period.

To be frank, none of the “CBD oils” that we bought in town had much – if any – effect. We later found out these were probably made from hemp seed oil instead of actual mature hemp plants, which apparently makes a massive difference in terms of therapeutic effectiveness.

When considering hemp oil, anxiety symptoms of course respond the most to products that contain the highest amount of active CBD. Since seeds of the hemp plant contain virtually no cannabinoids, it would make sense that a hemp seed extract has minimal effects on any condition, whether it be anxiety, pain, depression, etc.

In any regard, here were my wife’s top three picks for the best CBD tincture for anxiety:

  • CBD Essence

CBD Essence was her #1 pick in terms of the most effective results, which was a bit surprising to me as I use Pure Kana for pretty much everything (so I assumed they would’ve easily taken top spot). As mentioned earlier, she experienced great results when taking a single 30 mg dose, and the effects for this particular brand lasted well over 24 hours.

  • Elixinol

She actually tried the Elixinol CBD capsules and took two at a time (each one contains 15 mg), and said they worked wonderfully. The only reason she didn’t give them the #1 spot was because she said she felt like the effects wore off a little bit faster than the oil.

  • Pure Kana

This was actually from my “personal” Pure Kana collection (I use it nearly every day), and she said a double dose of the 1,000 mg bottle worked very well, just not as potent and long lasting as the CBD Essence.
